Dining in Los Cabos

Couple dining in CaboFrom the freshest seafood to Haute Mexican cuisine, Los Cabos' exceptional dining has earned it a well-deserved spot on Mexico's culinary map. You'll surely find plenty of options to suit your tastes.

CABO SAN LUCAS

Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach's new elegant, ocean-view La Frida features a soulful Mexican menu with contemporary twists and an award-winning sommelier. Downtown, best picks include Nick-San, the spot for divine sushi and Japanese food, with excellent service and celebrity sightings. Upstairs, tuna carpaccio, lion's paw scallops, and live Maine and Baja spiny lobster are waiting at The Fish House, recommended by The New York Times. Hip Sancho Panza is hidden around the corner near the marina, featuring Mediterranean plates with a Latin twist, along with a wine bar and live jazz for sizzling Cabo nights.

For classic Italian flare, Chef Rafaelle Di Maio adds his special touch to the cuisine at marina-view Ristorante Galeon. Lorenzillo's on the marina near Plaza Bonita flies in fresh lobsters daily from their Cancun lobster farms. (Enjoy them from the rooftop deck.) Find Mi Casa del Marisco behind Banamex, and begin with a Mago Magico margarita; then let your culinary tour of Mexico's coastal regions unfold.

In the Medano Beach neighborhood, Edith's is known for great atmosphere, authentic regional cuisine, and a fine selection of vintages from Baja California's boutique wineries. From beginning to end, you'll find excellent continental dining at Peacock's, next to the Melia San Lucas entrance. Further west, Villa La Estancia's elegant, yet relaxed La Casona does justice to Black Angus beef in a bay view setting. Reserve the private outdoor palapa for the best scenery. Find contemporary Italian at Amarone in Plaza Puerto Paraiso, with fantastic food, attentive service, and their signature Amarone vintages. At Ruth's Chris, savor the best USDA grain fed steaks and enjoy superb service, with a marina view from their al fresco dining pavilion.

THE CORRIDOR

For the epicurious, master chef Jacques Chretien's French Riviera, at Plaza del Rey, is a culinary must-do with exquisite food, expert service, and an ever-changing tasting menu. At Pitahaya's at Hacienda del Mar in Cabo del Sol, award-winning Chef Volker Romeike's Pan Asian cuisine is served under a dramatic oceanfront palapa. For romantic Mexican and international cuisine, consider candlelit El Tapanco at Casa del Mar, overlooking the beautifully landscaped Hacienda-style resort. Canto del Mar at the Marquis Los Cabos is the place for intimate international gourmet dining, with tailor-made menus and breathtaking ocean views.

SAN JOSE DEL CABO

Known for fine food in eclectic settings, San Jose's best restaurants are well worth the drive. At La Panga Antigua, a colonial hacienda sets the stage for fresh seafood. Beautifully designed Morgan's Restaurant & Cellar has memorable meals with Tuscan and Provencal touches. A few blocks away, Morgan's Encore offers continental dining with rooftop seating for yet another special evening. A favorite for its innovative menu and well-stocked bar, Tequila Restaurant marries Mediterranean, Mexican and Asian cuisine in a gorgeous patio setting.

On the main square, Damiana's Baja-style cuisine and enchanting patio garners praise from Bon Appetit. A few doors down, a torch-lit terrace and winning eclectic menu brings diners to adult-oriented Mi Cocina. Harder to find, but definitely worth the trouble, is El Chilar, where contemporary twist on traditional Mexican cuisine gets rave reviews from a loyal clientele. At Plaza Mision, Local 8's the place for delicious Nouveau cuisine in soulful surroundings.
